Barrie Tent & Awning

Barrie Tent & Awning was established in Barrie, Ontario in 1945. It was owned and operated by Bill Clark and his wife Margaret until 1984. After Bill Clark’s passing in 1983, Bill and Gail O’Brien purchased the company. Until 1985, Barrie Tent & Awning was located at 38 Bayfield St., but can now be found at 10 Hamilton Rd.

There have been several changes in the industry over the past 20 years. In 2009, owner Bill O’Brien passed away, but his wife Gail and daughter Lori continue to carry on in his memory. In 2010, they also lost long-time employee John Jordan. Some of the faces may be different, but the business and values Bill O’Brien instilled are still present at the company. Honesty and integrity are still important parts of the business.

We manufacture and install residential and commercial awnings, commercial tents for special functions and industrial covers and curtains.

Barrie Tent & Awning was established in 1945 by Bill and Margaret Clark and was purchased by the current owners, Bill & Gail O’Brien in 1984. The following year, the company moved from its crowded downtown location at 38 Bayfield St. to a larger 5,000-square-foot building at 10 Hamilton Rd. With four service and installation vehicles and a large dedicated staff, Barrie Tent & Awning has grown into an industry leader.

Barrie Tent & Awning has established itself over six decades as a supplier of top quality residential and commercial awnings throughout Central Ontario. As innovation and change has come to the industry, the company has stayed updated through its long-time involvement with the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI).
